Huntington Beach
Go one-on-one with the blue crab, a voracious salt marsh predator and seafood delicacy! We will use hand lines and dip nets to pursue these “beautiful swimmers” and learn about their ecology. Wear shoes that can get wet and muddy! This is a catch and release program. Bait will be provided. Meet at Oyster Landing. $5/crabbing rig. * Purchase tickets online or at the Nature Center NO LATER than 1 hour prior to program.
Learn the traditional art of gyotaku, also known as fish printing. Originally invented over a hundred years ago as a way for Japanese fishermen to make a record of their catches, it is now a unique way to make a souvenir of your visit to the beach! We'll provide authentic replicas of a variety of fish species, fabric paints, smocks, brushes, and paper. Bring a T-shirt to print for the best experience!
Myrtle Beach
Test your luck from the fishing pier as we try to catch a variety of crabs, fish and many other critters. This is a catch and release program in order to help conserve our resources for the future.

Creek wildlife can be amazing and diverse. Take a journey to explore Fairforest Creek in search of all we have here to offer. The chance to see and learn about vertebrates like fish, reptiles and amphibians to the invertebrates that call Croft home! This interactive program will allow for getting your feet wet and enjoy field sampling!
Sesquicentennial
Explore all things wild in this fun summer adventure for kids!
Become a marine biologist as we pull a seine net through the surf zone. We will discover and tally all sorts of fish, crabs, and other critters. Wear clothes that can get wet.
Edisto Beach
Join Edisto Beach State Park for a one of a kind experience. As one of the few areas in South Carolina permitted by SCDNR to lead educational sea turtle night walks, you might have the chance to see a sea turtle crawl and nest on the beach. *Please note: due to the duration, time of night, and difficulty of terrain, these walks are not recommended for children younger than 11 years old. The age limit is strictly enforced.

Paris Mountain
Join a ranger on a hike to Mountain Creek, searching for animals and their homes! Wade into the creek and search for dragonfly nymphs, salamanders, and other animals that call Paris Mountain home. In the park lab, see what the animals look like under a microscope (the animals will be returned home to the creek afterward).
Take a chilling tour of Atalaya as you listen to some of the strange stories of local coastal folklore.
