Pack a lunch and reserve a picnic shelter to spend the day learning at Rivers Bridge State Historic Site. The park offers three hiking trails featuring a variety of natural and cultural resources.
The Battlefield Trail is a favorite amongst history lovers. You will walk through an area where in 1865 outmanned Southern troops forces held the army of General Sherman for two days. Another trail follows the route that the Confederate troops followed on Feb.3, 1865 in their retreat from the Rivers Bridge Battlefield to the railroad junction at Branchville S.C.
