Discover the medicinal properties of blackberry as we learn to identify wild blackberries and how to make medicine and tea from them! This is followed by a delicious berry dissection to gather seeds to take home and plant!
Historically, people used a lot of plants for ailments and diseases, some of which have held up through modern science and research, and others that have not. This program will focus on the benefits of blackberry, both modern and historic.
First, we'll head outside to find wild blackberry. Then we'll make and test a decoction using directions from a Confederate surgeon in 1863! We'll also make a medicinal blackberry tea and harvest seeds from some delicious store bought blackberries to grow later. At the end of the program, anyone who wants one can take a blackberry plant home with them!
