In honor of Black History Month, our African American Heritage Day program takes an in-depth look at different aspects of the experience of both enslaved and free Africans on the plantation.
This year's theme focuses on how Gullah Geechee customs and spiritual practices developed in the Lowcountry.
Tours begin at 12 and at 2. Admission includes a special presentation on Hampton's African American community by local historian Vennie Deas Moore. The presentation will start at 1.
